During 2013, domestic imported tinplate (including tin, chrome iron) 105,114.41 tons, representing an increase of 33.96 percent over the same period last year. In the domestic tinplate demand growth declined, the imbalance between supply and demand situation, imports are contrarian growth, indicating that the import of iron in the domestic consumer market remains highly competitive.
In 2013, China imported a total of tinned iron 77,817.77 tons, an increase of 5.93%, average import price of 860.07 U.S. dollars / ton, down 2.18%; imported chrome iron 37,538.27 tons, an increase of 650.15 percent, the average import price 757.97 U.S. dollars / ton, down 27.47%. Import price crash is driven by domestic ferrochrome imports rose mainly due to plating, reflecting the weak state of affairs foreign tinplate market.
